Office Relocation Tips
Published on Saturday, 02 January 2010
Office move is considered to be a stressful activity. Here are some tips to do months before the office move for you to lessen the stress you will encounter during the process:
* Four Months before the Office Move
Before deciding on your office move, it is important to recognise your basic objective of your relocation. If the purpose is to expand your business, then moving to a more spacious location is the answer. Once the new office has been established, it is important to know the layout of the new facility.
Information about the proposed date of relocation should be announced to all the employees in the organisation. It is important to get necessary permits and apply for new land line and fax numbers.
 * Two Months before
Professional movers
and packers should be contacted and a detailed moving plan should be already in place. The Internet, telephone and other forms of communication should be properly scrutinised. Place orders for furniture, desks, tables and chairs, computers, photocopiers and other office equipment.
* One Month before
This is the time when the whole plan should be discussed with all of the employees. Every person should be given a responsibility. This will be the time to separate useless items from useful ones. Useless materials must be well disposed off. Change of address, telephone numbers should be duly informed to all distributors, vendors and customers.
* One Week before
This is the busiest period. All office desks should be emptied and all office essentials should be packed inside boxes. It is important to postpone or reschedule meetings to a later date. Electronic items should be properly disconnected, packed and relocated to the new office.
Follow these tips for a stress-tree office move.
