Bembridge railway stationBembridge was the terminus [1] of the 2¾ mile branch line that connected it to the main line at Brading[2]. On holiday Saturdays the sector table revolved continuously because the station area was too small to contain points[3]. Opened in 1882, when the area contained the Island's main port[4], it ran with ever-dwindling passengers until 1953[5]. The station is long since demolished[6] and a new development (Harbour Strand) in place[7].St Helens FortPeriodically (often in August) on one of the lowest tides of the year, there is a mass walk from St. Helen's beach out to the fort and back. At this day the causeway appears from the sea upon which the original materials were carried out from the shore at St Helen's Old Church, where there was formerly a quarry. Access is from this point, but also along the spit from Bembridge. It has become traditional to hold a barbecue on the beach thereafter. This event is entirely spontaneous but safety boat services are provided by local yacht clubs.Priory WoodsPriory Woods (grid reference SZ635900) is a 2.94 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest near the town of Bembridge, Isle of Wight, notified in 1998. It is a National Trust property and is served by a public footpath. Concealed within it is "The Priory Oyster" - an oyster bar attached to the Priory Bay Hotel and open only in the height of summer. It has significant recent archaeology with the remains of a sea wall and rusted iron railings. Numerous hand axes have been found in strata dated from 400,000 years ago, which would indicate their users were Neanderthals. The woods overlook Priory Bay and its private beach.HavantThe old centre of the town is on a classic crossroad configuration, with the four streets being named North Street, East Street, South Street and West Street, and St Faith's church at the crossing. At least one axis (and evidence suggests both) is a known Roman road.Warblington railway station(It takes 1 hour 31 minutes to reach London Waterloo by taking the train towards Southampton and changing onto a London-Portsmouth express at Havant.)Information by Wikipedia.com
